Welcome everyone to my third blog.
Thank you all for taking the time to read it.
What`s been happening since my last blog? Beaumont Leys local policing unit has been really busy on the run up to Christmas.Since the 1st December 2012 we have arrested 54 people for a number of offences.
During the passed two weeks we have had a spike in houses being burgled especially on the Abbey Beat which cover Mowacre and Stocking Farm estates. We put in a considerable amount of effort to identify who was responsible for committing these offences and our tactics paid dividends when we arrested five different individuals for a variety of offences.Following their arrests, burglaries in this area suddenly came to a halt which is excellent news and means hopefully that people`s Christmas will not be ruined.
Currently we have the Christmas crime prevention shop open in the Beaumont Leys Shopping centre. The shop offers loads of crime prevention advice to keep you and your property safe this Christmas. Please pop in if you are in the area. There is a free raffle with some great prizes including an IPad,pedal cycle and numerous other items.Any money raised is going to charity.
The force is currently 13 days into its Christmas drink drive campaign,so far we have made 35 arrests. Its simply not worth it. I would advise you to follow one of the simple tips below rather than use your vehicle if you plan on having a drink.
Arrange for one of your group to be the nominated driver who doesn’t drink any alcohol for the evening.
- Find out the bus times, including the last bus home.
- Book a taxi in advance.
- Spend the evening near home.
On that note I hope you all have a happy and peaceful Christmas. Please remember if you see anything suspicious then ring it in.We will gladly come and check it out better to safe safe than sorry.
All the best
Inspector Kev Morris
Local Policing Commander Beaumont Leys
